I have a Samsung CLP-300 color laser which you can find online in the $100 range. It's small, fast and prints very sharp. Photos are nowhere near as good as an inkjet but most of what I print is not photos. A set of 4 toners is $50 at http://www.ccs-digital.com and lasts for thousands of pages.
