How much does it cost to get three papers lamented and binded together at Kinkos and make color copies?
I should know, since I work there, but I don’t. At my center we only process the ginormous orders, 5000+ pages.
Does anybody know how much I would have to pay for 200 color copies at Kinkos?
They’re normal sized 8×11
What are their average rates?
Is there a web page I could go to to find this out?
its 49cents (plus some tax) making it .53 cents a copy if you
do it your self on the self-service copier (although sometimes if you pay order it might be less
Five Production Technologies you Should Know About
The most important aspect of change in the production industry is workflow improvement. The more efficient the workflow, the more time we have to focus on customer service.
This efficiency is being accomplished by the evolution of digital workflow systems. In order to implement a fully digital workflow we must embrace key technologies such as color management, PDF files, electronic paper and soft proofing.
1. Digital Workflow Systems Workflow is the operational aspect of a work procedure: how tasks are structured, who performs them, what their relative order is, how they are synchronized, how information flows to support the tasks and how tasks are being tracked. In keeping up with the growing technological advances and increasing digitization of our world, the printing and publishing industries are integrating digital systems to manage this workflow. Digital workflow provides independent consultancy, mentoring and assistance in the management of change within print production. Digital systems also help reduce the variations of the printing process and offer increased consistency of the printed product. The move to a digital workflow involves more than just adding systems – it’s a change in production. The printing process becomes a manufacturing process. Once complete, a number of benefits are clear. Printers can have faster turnaround times, more color, better quality and potential cost reductions. The digital workflow system actually allows printers to become a business partner with the customers, allowing them to work both smarter and more efficiently.
2. Color Management As a printing professional, we have the difficult task of assuring that the colors we see on-screen will match the ones in our final printed materials. Mistakes in color can have far-reaching consequences, from damaging a client’s corporate image, to causing customers to return products because they were not accurately represented in a promotional image. One component of a fully digital workflow is closed- loop color, which allows printing production departments to continuously manage color throughout the printing process. The results include virtually perfect color, thereby reducing proofing cycles and lowering expenses.
3. PDF Creation Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) has become the standard in document sharing, electronic forms and web publishing. Reviewing and printing documents using Adobe’s free PDF viewer, Acrobat Reader, is the only exposure most people have with Acrobat. However, for the print service professional PDF files have cut production time significantly, and reduced many of the common digital printing headaches and pitfalls that come from customer’s files. In viewing a PDF file from a customer, we are able to see the exact font, color and formation of the desired product. PDF files establish an open, user-friendly workflow tool that enables consistent and concise communication.
4. Electronic Paper Electronic paper is the most current cutting edge technology in the printing and publishing industry. Although it resembles ordinary paper, electronic paper is virtually a computer screen, and can be reused millions of times. But unlike a clunky PC monitor, electronic paper is actually paper thin. Eventually our newspaper and magazines and even business cards will resemble a credit card and the information on them can be updated daily to reflect the most current affairs. Electronic paper has excellent resolution, high contrast that can be read in strong or dim light, there will be no need for external power to maintain an image – saving energy, and you will never have to recycle!
5. Soft Proofing A proof is a contract of which printers and customers are agreeing that an acceptable reproduction can be made with the designated paper and ink. It’s also a communications and quality- control tool used to set printers’ and customers’ expectations – it predicts the results of a press run and provides a basis for evaluating a press operator’s efforts. Until now, final proofs were done with hard copies, soon soft proofing will likely be the last component to complete a fully digital workflow.

Is it the sky or the sea that copies the color blue as its color? Why?
I am confused…
They say it’s bcoz of the sky that the ocean/sea looks blue…
yet other would insist that it’s the sky who copies its blue color from the sea/ocean…
which one is the real fact?
Then why is it so?
In the first place, the sky is blue because the molecules in the atmosphere scatrter the blue part of the spectrum, and the red and yellow parts of the spectrum tend to pass straight through. To us looking from the ground, the blue light seems to be coming from everywhere (this is called ‘Rayleigh cattereing’); hence the sky seems blue.
The reason why the sea seems blue is similar; but a little more complicated. The sea does reflect the blue colour of the sky (or can appear grey in overcast weather), but this only applies to the surface of the sea. As well as reflecting the blue from the sky, the water molecules scatter the blue light in much the same way as the air molecules in the sky. This accounts for the ‘natural faint blue colour’.
In addition, the water also absorbs more of the red and yellow wavelengths (which warm the sea), leaving the blue part of the spectrum, as well as part of the green. This is why deep water can appear bluish-green. (The absorption of the red wavelengths can be noticed by looking at a red object under deep water. It will appear black; because only blue light is reflected back to us.)
Eventually, at sufficient depth, even the blue light will have been absorbed or scattered away, and deep water will be black and lightless.
This scattering effect is even stronger if there are colloidal materials (very finely divided particles) in the water, such as finely divided clay particles. These can increase the scattering effect, turning the water an intense blue (which can sometimes be seen in flooded abandoned quarries). The scattering effect is also greater with ice; which results in the intense blue colour we see if we look down a crevasse in a glacier, or down a hole in the snow made by a ski stock..
For complete, scientific explanations of the scattering effect, look up ‘blue sky’ in Wikipedia.
where is the best place to get color copies done cheap?
I’m looking for the best place to get good color copies at a low price. i’m an artist and i prefer to make color copies of the photos i work for because they often get destroyed in the art making process
color copies–if you mean color Xerox copies–they don’t give you really "photo"-like results.
How big is it? If it’s bigger than a letter-sized paper, then take a photo of it, and print it on a good inkjet (photo) printer.
If you already have the file, costco, walmart, etc., will print them for you cheaply.
