I bought this color cartridge that said it was compatible with this printer, it worked for about a week and a half, and all of a sudden I got this warning: "Incorrect Cartridge: Tri-color print cartridge inserted now is not intended for use in this printer." Turning off and unplugging the printer used to fix this problem for a few days and then it would come back. But now, it won’t work at all. Nothing I do works to fix this.

Am I just screwed?

When we moved we had to throw out the old cartridges. I bought a new black one, because I rarely use color, and set the options to print with black ink only. But now, it still won’t let me. Im guessing because the color spot does not have a cartridge at all (empty or full). Can I do something to print just with black or do I HAVE to go buy a color cartridge. It’s a Canon ip1700 if that helps.
