Understanding Brass, Bronze and Patina

Brass

Brass is a buttery yellow alloy which has been manufactured for thousands of years all over the world. The uses of brass vary depending on the percentages of zinc and copper, and which other metals have been added to alloy to bring out specific properties, but they include cartridge cases for weapons, pipes, decorative accents on homes, musical instruments, and household ornaments. The color of the alloy will also vary, depending on the amount of zinc: brass gets lighter in color with additional zinc, and can reach a pale yellow stage.

Basic brass has approximately 67% copper and 33% zinc, making it stronger and more durable than copper, although not as strong as metals like steel. Alloys with even less zinc start to turn reddish in color, and are sometimes called red brass. Other metals are sometimes added to the alloy including lead to make brass more workable by machine and to resist corrosion, and iron to make the brass harder and easier to forge.

Numerous terms are used to talk about brass including “cartridge brass” and “Dutch brass,” but in the United States, brass is assigned a number under the Unified Numbering System. All br

Do color laster printers print out pictures that look better than inkjet printers?

For printing color pages?

No.

Ink jets are better for pictures. Laser better for text and line graphics.

Where is the best place to have color copies made?

I need to make about 1000-2000 color copies of a flyer I have made and printed at home. Price is the most important factor, quality does not have to be amazing and printing on plain white paper is fine (although the color printing is necessary). I know prices may vary slightly by location but who usually has the lowest prices? Thanks so much for feedback and suggestions :)

Try kinko’s – They charged me $0.09 a page for black & white copies (I believe it’s a little more expensive for color copies), but I don’t know if they offer a bulk discount for larger projects.

What are best color printers?

I have windows 7. And i would mostly use the printer for printing documents and good quality pictures.

id say kodak for the pics and epson for an all rounder but don’t trust what the image is like on the box!!! they always look perfect their then you get it home and prints like any other. but kodak are really good as they are mainly for digital prints and they are especially good if you get photo paper

Evolis Id Card Printers Overview

Evolis has been bringing identification solutions to a wide range of businesses since 1999; the company now has customers all over the globe.  This European based manufacturer is committed to excellence.  Their dedication is reflected not only in the continued expansion of their ID card printer line, but also in the accompanying software badging solutions.  Evolis is currently the only reliable source for print drivers that are compatible with Mac systems rather than just Windows.  These are available for their entire line of full color equipment.  Some printers support Linux drivers as well.  Talk to your ID specialist for additional advice if you are planning to run one of these less common systems.

The company is also ahead of the curve when it comes to sustainability.  They go above and beyond the standard RoHS and WEEE directives to minimize their impact on the environment.  Evolis focuses on providing a healthy work space for their employees.  They also examine each stage of the production process to reduce waste.  Rainwater harvesting and solar power are eco-friendly features that make their manufacturing facility stand out from the rest of the industry.

Tattoo ReWrite

If you want to incorporate this type of low-impact strategy into your office, consider the benefits of rewritable card technology.  The Tattoo ReWrite is a low-cost monochrome printer that uses thermal sensitive ID badges.  No ribbons are needed and the card stock you buy can be used over and over.  In fact, each card can be erased and reused up to 500 times.  Just be sure you have a reclamation process in place to collect any badges that are not being used.  Magnetic stripe and contactless smart card encoding can be added to this machine at the factory.

Tattoo2, Pebble4 and Dualys3

This group of printers can be outfitted with optional manual card feeders for direct over-the-counter printing.  This is an ideal way to impress customers at the point of contact.  The Pebble even lets you swap out the cover (just like would on your cell phone).  Choose from vivid green, red, or blue to match your decor or the season.  The Tattoo2 is a single sided printer while the Pebble and Dualys provide dual sided card handling.  All three models deliver full color dye sublimation printing.  The double sided models can also feature basic and advanced encoders and contact stations at your discretion.  Each of these 3 printer models includes ribbon saving technology.  If you want to print on non-standard card stock, be sure to investigate the line of specialty cartridges Evolis provides.

Quantum and Securion

For high volume card printing, you can choose between these two full color, dual sided printers.  The Quantum has a huge capacity and can handle jobs of up to 1,000 cards at a time with its two feeders and hoppers.  It even has the ability to handle two separate print jobs at once; each 500 card input feeder is independent from the other.  Take advantage of the Quantum high yield ribbons so you don’t have to stop and load a new cartridge in the middle of a job.  You can choose from a wide variety of encoding options for this printer and even request an alternate if their usual options don’t fit your needs.

If lamination is an important factor in your badge creation, you can’t go wrong with the Securion unit.  It features an in-line laminating station that can handle all types of overlay including patches and holographic film.  The flip-over station works for printing and laminating so both sides of each card can be protected. This model is ideal for locations that require high security.  It supports a Kensington anti-theft cable and a supply lock to keep your consumables safe.  Password protection ensures that your software is in the right hands as well.

Guide to Toner Cartridges

Although laser printers generally cost more than inkjets, their toner cartridges last much longer and provide you with higher quality output. In other words, the initial cost of laser toner cartridges may seem rather high, but so is the yield. Typically, you’ll be able to print thousands of pages with a single toner cartridge. Overall, laser printers deliver a lower cost per page.

For starters, inkjets use small dots of ink to create output, whereas laser printers use toner to produce text. Plus, toner cartridges last longer than inkjet cartridges, which eventually bring down overall printing costs. For these very reasons, laser printers are more popular in larger office settings.

The process used in laser printing is very similar to that of photocopying, which involves a dry powdery substance. Once the drum deposits the powder onto a piece of paper, the fuser uses heat and pressure to melt the powder to the paper. This usually results in sharp, crisp, high-quality text. Unlike the liquid ink in inkjet cartridges, the dry powder doesn’t dry up if unused for long period of time.

The speed at which laser printers operate can vary greatly. However, they are almost always faster than inkjets. You’ll also have the choice of printing in color or solely black and white text. Keep in mind, though, that color cartridges tend to cost a bit more than monochrome.

Pay attention to the expiration date and warranty period before you make a purchase. If you’re not satisfied with the quality of your cartridge, a longer warranty period allows you to return the product at a later date.

You can save money by purchasing a remanufactured or compatible refill kit from a separate company. By reusing components, remanufactured cartridges help save valuable resources and decrease user-generated waste. Also, several companies offer recycling programs for their used cartridges, which help reduce the environmental impact of these discarded products. These inexpensive alternatives are a great solution to saving money on printer supplies.

Without a doubt, some of the best deals on toner cartridges can be found online. For low prices on high-quality cartridges, check out Superwarehouse.com

Best Printer Models & Fast Scanner for Independent Accounting Professionals

The end product of all the toil that an accounting professional goes through is often comprised in a sheet of paper or two, sometimes more. It can be a tax return or a report and whatever it be, needs be produced with ease, should be good looking and be affordable too. So, the printer often rules the roost. Therefore, let us consider some of the issues associated with the best printer models and fast scanners for accounting professionals.

In the first place, a reliable printer should be able to produce a copy which is as good looking as it is on the computer screen.

Multifunction Printers

The multifunction printers or the all-in-one printers as they are more commonly known are capable of doing the printing, scanning, copying and faxing. These are great gadgets because the cost of the multifunction printer just about the same as a stand alone printer or a trifle more at times. The advantage for you is that with this singular unit, you could get going pretty quickly. When your business grows, you can always opt for replacements with devices having industrial strength.

Check these attributes

Most manufacturers engaged in these composite units employ only proven print technology and hence there is no fear of treading into uncharted territory. But, you should keep an eye out for:-

Running Costs

The common ink-jet printers come with price tags in the range of $180 to $550 though higher versions can go up to $1500 or more. The Lexmark X215 all-in-one laser is priced at $576 + taxes. Since the cost of inkjet cartridges can be pricey check for the cost per page. When you have lots of color jobs to be done, tri-color units should be avoided and instead models offering individual color cartridges should fit you better.

Test Print

Print resolution for all models is mostly similar. But, you should run a test print on the type of paper you regularly use in your work since there can be significant variations in the actual results.

Features

Consider the features you need for your business and avoid those that are of sporadic interest. Some models for example, offer photo printing, but the cartridge can be expensive.

Layout and size

Though these gadgets are capable of doing several functions, they need be essentially bulky. The HP PSC 1205 for example measures 426×259×170mm while others can be lot bigger. The paper track is important and you need to consider whether the unit is comfortable when pushed back or placed in a corner. The clearance needed for opening the scanner lid or changing the ink cartridge should also receive your attention.
